Competition Rules
Competitions will be played in accordance with Bowls England Laws of the game
and all competitors and markers must be fully paid-up members of The Fairford Bowling Club
- The first named player / team in the draw shall be the challenger (player A), who is responsible for contacting the opponent, booking a rink of his/her choice, inserting the agreed date on the draw sheet and arranging a marker for singles games.
- Wherever possible all matches should be arranged by mutual agreement. But where this is not possible the following rules should be adhered to:
- The challenger must offer their opponent (Player B) three dates spread over more than one week, and at least one of the dates must be a weekend. The offer must be made within three days of the closing date of the previous round.
- Failure by the challenger to comply with the above will mean the roll of the challenger will be reversed. Player B must then offer three dates spread over more than one week, and at least one of the dates must be a weekend. The offer must be made within the six days of the closing date of the previous round.
- Once the challenger has offered dates, the opponent should confirm acceptance of a date within 24 hours.
- Once the date & time has been arranged then the challenger must make the arrangements by booking the rink of their choice, and in the case of a singles match must arrange for a marker.
- Should the arrangements for the match not be made and the match not played by the closing date of the round then no extensions will be given (Exceptions will only be made in the event of a close family bereavement or in the event of the green being closed on the last play date of a round. In these cases the match must be played with two days of the closing date of the previous round).

- If neither player offers dates in the role of the challenger and within the rules, then both players will be removed from the competition.
