History has been made at Fairford Bowling Club!
Ken Sawyer and Tim Bloomer have given Fairford their first ever national trophy by winning the national senior pairs championships at the Bowls England finals at Leamington Spa.

Following on from a run of 4 wins, Ken and Tim played the final on Friday lunchtime after enjoying a visit to the burger van! The game was extremely close with the lead changing hands many times. Despite dropping 2 5’s (the only time they dropped any count throughout the whole competition) found themselves one up playing the last end. Tim drew a front toucher with his last bowl which forced to opposing skip into firing. He was successful in ditching the jack and gaining 1 shot to tie the match. So onto an extra end where Ken and his opposing lead engaged a some tit-for-tat exchanging shots all within a foot until Ken drew the perfect bowl with his last wood; an absolute ‘worldie’. Once again the skip managed to punch the jack into the ditch and gain the shot back. this left one bowl left for each skip with Tim having to draw on a wide line to within a yard of the ditch and he did precisely that; Yes!!! the opposing skip attempted the play the wood out but missed and Tim was off down the green like a gazelle with his arms in the air! What a day, what a match. It was a privilege to be there to watch it. Thank you Ken and Tim!!!

A massive well done and congratulations to Ken and Tim
