Fairford ‘A’ came so close to retaining the Gloucester County Sunday League losing out on shot difference to Cheltenham (Suffolk Sq.).

Needing to win on both rinks Fairford acheived a fine 6-0 victory over Tewkesbury. To win the league we needed Cheltenham to lost on at least one rink which would of given us the league title by 1 point. With Cheltenham’s remaining rink being 3 down playing the last end but holding 2 in the head it came down to the very last bowl of the game which with some good fortune (apparently) ended up being 3rd shot meaning Cheltenham won 5-1 on the day. So with the points total being equal Fairford lost out on shot difference. Congratulations to Cheltenham.

Fairford ‘B’ have a chance of finishing 2nd in division 3 but we await one final result from other clubs.

This coming weekend sees the county mens finals take place and Fairford have representatives in the Triples (Jack Grover, Pete Stinchcombe, Nig Cansdale), the fours (Jack Grover, Tom Luce, Ken Sawyer, Pete Stinchcombe) and the under 25’s (Jack Grover). The very best of luck to all!

Oh so close in the County League!
